Description |
Early 19th Century Leather Camphorwood Trunk. A lovely quality leather bound and brass studded camphorwood trunk circa 1800's.
This trunk still retains a possible owners name painted in white to the top. The inside is nice and clean with a small opening to the base of the trunk which is quite normal and when opened has the lovely smell of the camphorwood which was used by the Chinese as the oils in the wood repel moths and insects therefore keeping you clothes and linen fresh and intact. The trunk is of very good proportions being over a meter long and retains is original hand dyed leather hide from the 1800's along with its carrying handles to each end. In good condition having been nourished and waxed this trunk has been raised on later wooden feet and with a great colour and bundles of character will be the talking piece of any home. |
