An exceptional quality “Gris St Anne” marble topped French Louis Philippe burr Walnut 5 drawer Commode.
This Antique commode has a beautifully figured grey marble top known as Gris St Anne with a double scrolled edge.
Having the finest quality tight burr walnut veneers this commode has been constructed with 5 oak lined drawers each retaining their original locks.
The shaped cushion drawer to the top below which are three beautifully veneered burr walnut drawers set within a shaped edge mould with the veneers matched to run through the drawers and their styles being a sign of quality craftsmanship and attention to detail. The commode has a further secret drawer hidden within its plinth base which is raised on shaped feet.
This outstanding Antique French Commode aside from being a handsome looking piece of furniture is also a very universal piece as the chest can be used in a variety of rooms within the house.
Offered in excellent condition this antique commode has been carefully restored using traditional polishing methods and has a beautiful honey walnut colour which would work well in a contemporary or traditional household setting.
The colour and burr veneers on this commode are amongst the best you can find and hard to beat.
*Gris St.Anne Marble is a dark grey marble with white and light grey markings. It is quarried mainly in Belgium at Gougnies near Charleroi and at Biesme, Namur.
