Pair of 19th Century Mahogany Country House Leather Armchairs #2709

A fine pair of late 19th Century George II style carved mahogany country house leather upholstered armchairs of generous proportions.

English, circa 1880

A handsome pair of antique leather armchairs having the desirable feathered cushioned back and seat, along with their deep proportions, make them an extremely comfortable pair of armchairs (amongst the most comfortable we have owned!)

The shaped leather upholstered cushioned back sits over a pair of scrolled out-swept armrests retaining a feather cushioned seat above vitruvian scroll rails, each mahogany armrest having delicately carved rosettes and trailing intwined ribbon.

Raised on carved cabriole hairy paw front legs with shell to the knee and splays to the rear, united by a gadrooned carved moulded edge.

Each chair has been upholstered in the traditional manner with a fine quality hand dyed and antiqued leather hyde decorated with an individual solid brass nail studwork finish.

In excellent condition these pair of antique armchairs have been recently fully restored acquiring a superb colour and are extremely comfortable, so much so you will not want to get out if them!

Note the excellent proportions, fine quality carving and sumptuous colour making these armchairs a fine addition to any home.
