French 19th Century Gilt-Bronze Mounted Writing Table of Fine Quality #2794

An extremely fine 19th century French Louis XV revival gilt ormolu mounted Kingwood bureau de dame / writing table.

A very attractive and of the finest quality Kingwood bureau de dame or ladies writing table. 


The rectangular top having an inset gilt tooled leather writing surface with surrounding bookmatch veneered kingwood crossbanding bordered by amaranth (purpleheart wood)  with boxwood and ebony inlaid banding. 

The edge, having a gilt ormolu banding, rests above a single kingwood frieze oak lined drawer with concealed locking mechanism, being amaranth crossbanded and outlined with boxwood and ebony stringing. 


The drawer and sides of conforming design being adorned with very fine gilt ormolu banding with the rear being mirrored to the front enabling this writing table to stand freely within the room.


Raised on slender serpentine legs with fine ormolu chutes to the knee trailing down to gilt sabots. 


This wonderful French writing table is of the finest quality and excellent colour throughout. Having been finely restored the mounts have been re-gilt with 24 carat gold.

A fine addition for any collector or home.
