Raised on four turned and reeded tapering legs with panelled headers finishing on decorative brass castors retaining their original gilt work.

Offered in excellent condition a very stylish and much admired late Regency design, incorporating Greek and Roman elements, which can be found in R. Ackermann's, 'Repository of Arts' 1821, (P. Agius, Ackermann's Regency Furniture and Interiors, Marlborough, 1984, p. 132, pl. 116).

John Taylor was established in Edinburgh at about the time this sofa was made and followed the current trends which were most notably set by George Smith.
