Regency Figured East Indian Satinwood and Ebony Inlaid Tea Caddy #2654

A very fine quality and rare Regency East Indian Satinwood and ebony inlaid tea caddy in the manner of George Oakley.

English Regency period Circa 1810.

A wonderful quality tea caddy, finely inlaid with ebony Greek key geometric banding, decorated with anthemion, lotus, star, bow and arrow and lyre ends with the whole raised on brass ball feet.

The top opens top reveal a coromandel wood and inlaid inside top, with two original removable lidded inner tea canisters complete with their original zinc linings and a later glass mixing bowl.

In excellent condition this tea caddy has obtained a fine original colour and patina. The contrasting satinwood and ebony veneers along with the Greek motifs used are very much in the manner of the famous cabinet makers George Oakley and George Bullock.

With fine attention to detail even the feathers on the arrows are individually veneered pieces of contrasting timber.
